Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse NES ROM game is an action-adventure game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the third installment of the Castlevania series, following Castlevania and Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest. The player takes on the role of Trevor Belmont, descendant of Simon Belmont, as he fights his way through Dracula’s castle to stop him from resurrecting.
The gameplay in Castlevania III is similar to that of its predecessors; the player must navigate through a side-scrolling environment while avoiding obstacles and fighting enemies using melee weapons or magic spells. However, there are several new features introduced in this game which set it apart from its predecessors.
For example, Trevor can now use items such as sub-weapons (throwing axes, holy water bottles) and power-ups (such as double damage), which he can obtain by finding them hidden throughout the castle or purchasing them from merchants.
He can also summon one of three allies – Alucard (Dracula’s son), Sypha Belnades (a powerful female magician), or Grant DaNasty (a pirate with a peg leg) – to help him fight enemies and bosses; each ally has their own unique abilities which can be used to reach previously inaccessible areas or defeat difficult foes.
Castlevania III was well received by critics upon release; it was praised for its graphics, music and gameplay variety.
